Adopt A Pet In Carrollton!

Thinking about adopting a pet? Carrollton GA dog and cat adoption and rescue is a great way to find the perfect pet for your family! Here are some great reasons why adopting a pet is a great idea and information about animal rescue and adoption in the Carrollton area:

1. After you pay the adoption fee, which is relatively low compared to a purchase price, you will bring home an animal you know is healthy, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Adopted pets tend to be more socialized as many of them have spent time in foster homes. The homes and shelters can give you a thorough history on the pet and his habits.

Secondly, you get to pick the pet you want without the pressure of someone trying to sell you something. Rescue groups want to match you with a pet you will want forever and are much more personal in the guidance they give you about what to expect from your choice.

At the Carroll County Animal Shelter, you will pay $95 for cats and $115 for a dog. This adoption price includes the following: spay/neuter; rabies; da2ppv or fvrcp shots;   heartworm test for dogs; feline aids/leukemia test for cats; deworming; and microchip,   plus 30 days of pet insurance

2. Save a life! Due to overpopulation, millions of dogs and cats are euthanized every year. Most of these animals are well behaved and need a good home. Shelters aren't equipped or funded to care for all the animals brought in to them, so make the choice to save a life.

  • Go online to www.carrollcountyhumane.org or www.petfinder.com to find pets available  for adoption in and around Carrollton. There are many rescue organizations that work with Carroll County Human Society in the area and far away so that you can find the pet you are looking for!

3. When you adopt a pet from the shelter you make room for another animal in desperate need of care.

4. It will make you feel good! People with pets live longer. They show you unconditional love and give you emotional support. It's been proven that pets can actually improve your physical health, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol through activities like walking, grooming, and playing.

5. You will save some money. Buying a pet from a store or a breeder is much more expensive than adopting one, plus the vaccinations and spaying and neutering are part of the adoption fee.

  • You would pay well over $200 at a vet's office just for the services that come with the animal that you adopt (vaccinations, spay/neuter, tests, deworming, microchips).
